What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is based on the belief that the body is a self healing mechanism and is always seeking homeostasis or balance in the body.

Sometimes the body needs some help in order to achieve this balance so it can function properly.

Osteopathy works with the mechanostructural state of the body using manipulative treatments on the skeleton and various tissues of the body to provide ease of function.

If one can imagine a team in which some of the players are restricted in their function for various reasons. This places an increased stress on other members of the team.

The body is a unit, which like a team, needs all parts functionin properly. When this does not occur, dysfunction may arise, which may express itself as pain in that area or in another as a compensation.
The Profile

Cian Flynn is a registered osteopath. After completing four years clinical and theoretical training he qualified as an Osteopath from the European School of Osteopathy in Kent before returning to his native Galway. Cian also has a degree in Physiology from the National University of Ireland, Galway.
